Neighborhood Block Parties

In 2023, Bethany held three Neighborhood Block Parties in an effort to get to know individuals and families in the immediate neighborhood. The gatherings were well received. Bethany is grateful for the support shown by sister congregations in sending volunteers to help set up, cook and serve, and provide music. In addition to food, music, children’s activities, Pastor Afam provided “Free Haircuts for Jesus”! Neighborhood Block Parties will again be held during 2024.

Daily Devotions

Soup Kitchen Ministry

The Soup Kitchen Ministry began in 2008 and is held in conjunction with the Food Pantry program on the last two Wednesdays of each month from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. Volunteers from area sister congregations come and help prepare and serve a nutritious meal to those in attendance. The Pastor or lay leader shares a devotion and prayer during mealtime.

Bethany EV. Lutheran Church was organized on October 4, 1893. A combined church and school was built at 33rd & West Brown and dedicated in May 1894.
